Relapse

I keep a log of my symptoms as I am sure a lot of people with chronic disease have to do. If nothing else it keeps me busy and, what can I say, I am sucker for a bar chart.

I realised at the beginning of July that something was wrong. As often seems to be the case with me I had started to relax and eat a little more freely then suddenly over the course of a weekend I was getting quite severe symptoms including blood which is obviously not good.

Psychologically I went into complete denial, I kept telling myself "I have been doing so well". Then 2 weeks of worsening symptom's (despite taking my 90mg Stelara dose) later, I had to admit that eating my usual SCD diet was no longer working.

On the 17th July I reverted to stage 1 SCD. It was painful because I am no longer used to such a strict diet. Only carrot, spinach and pumpkin or squash, bananas, and meat/certain seafood (I generally stick to white meat and shrimp).

Now 2 and a half weeks later I am finally free of the worse of it. I am going to stay on stage one for the rest of the week and then gradually bring back foods. Honestly I am so, so bored of stage 1, I just want some nut butter and sour yogurt!!

Vent complete, thanks for reading.
